Walker Middle School students at ThreatLocker HQ

Orlando, FL - It started out as a typical day for ThreatLocker account manager Lonsard Denis. While diligently working from his third-floor cubicle at the global cybersecurity company in Orlando, little did he know he was in for a pleasant surprise.

As a student tour group approached the sales department, Denis heard voices and saw the bright-eyed youngsters attentively listening to their tour guide. Then he heard someone mention Walker Middle School. Denis looked up again from his desk, stood up and approached the group with something meaningful to tell them. “I am a proud graduate of Walker Middle School,” he said.

The thirty students quickly turned around and focused their attention solely on Denis who introduced himself to the students.

“I had to come over to meet you. I am an example of what can happen with hard work and determination. You are taking a tour of ThreatLocker today, and in the future, you could work here or at any company. The future is yours and the sky is the limit.”

ThreatLocker Chief Revenue Officer Shane Deegan spoke to the students about the importance of cybersecurity in today’s world of ever growing cyberattacks. “Cyber threats are a daily reality. Cybercriminals are organized, relentless, and increasingly sophisticated, targeting both businesses and individuals without pause. I encourage young people to pursue their education and consider a career in cybersecurity. It is a field where they can make a real impact.”

Computer Education teacher Shelley Green coordinated the field trip to ThreatLocker. The 15-year veteran of the school system wanted her students to step outside of the computer lab to see first-hand how a major cybersecurity company operates.

“My students had a great time at ThreatLocker learning about cybersecurity, ransomware, and hacking,” said Green. “What a wonderful surprise for my students to meet a graduate of Walker Middle School during the tour.”

Charles Ingraham says he was fascinated by the ThreatLocker experience. “I was absolutely blown away by it all. I am interested in working in the areas of coding, cybersecurity and graphic design,” said the 7th grader. “It was interesting to hear how ThreatLocker is able to help businesses prevent cyberattacks.”

Denis says seeing the students brought back great memories. “I like giving back to Walker Middle School because it gave me so much more than an education. Seeing the Walker students taking a tour of our headquarters was cool to witness. Back when I was in school, we weren’t exposed to such a fast-growing industry like cybersecurity, so knowing that they were afforded an opportunity to tour here was great.”

Before the tour ended, it was discovered ThreatLocker had at least two additional employees who were Walker Middle School graduates. Jamal Akram is a talent acquisition specialist and Trevor Zabar is an account manager.

ThreatLocker CEO & Co-Founder Danny Jenkins was 15 years old when he first became interested in computers. Today, Jenkins runs a successful cybersecurity company with over 600 employees.
